Bill could make prisoners pay for defense |

ILLINOIS - ILLINOIS -- Governor Bruce Rauner is focusing on reforming the state's criminal justice system. The latest idea he supports would make sure taxpayers don't have to pay legal bills for inmates. It would on impact inmates who commit crimes while behind bars. The bill would amend the current law which provides a public defender if an individual cannot afford one. "I don't think they're taking into consideration the prisoners' lives and the lives of their families into consideration at all." Olivia Mitchell says, after hearing Governor Rauner's latest bill proposal, she's concerned and has questions about how it might affect her loved ones behind bars. Read More. |
