SHARON – A representative of the state Department of Corrections will tour Sharon next week in an effort to get a better feel for the community and the location of its halfway house on the city’s West Hill.
That was one of the outcomes of a conference call on Wednesday that left city officials optimistic, said City Manager Robert G. Fiscus Jr.
“This was by far the most positive and productive meeting yet” regarding the halfway house, he said. “They (the DOC) are very committed to working with the city.”
State Rep. Mark A. Longietti of Hermitage, D-7th District, facilitated the meeting that included Fiscus, council member the Rev. Adam Trambley and police Chief Gerry Smith. State Sen. Michele Brooks of Jamestown, R-50th District, was on the conference call, along with unnamed officials with the Department of Corrections.
