Two Southern Illinois prisons are on lockdown. The Pinckneyville Correctional Center went on lockdown Friday after a staff member was reportedly assaulted. An Illinois Department of Corrections spokesperson says the officer and the offender both received treatment for non-life threatening injuries. No other details were released after the assault. On Thursday, the Menard Correctional Center was placed on lockdown after what an AFSCME union representative told the media was an incident involving approximately 150 inmates who refused to leave the yard for several hours.
