A Bronx judge ordered a Rikers Island inmate responsible for a bloody spree of assaults on correction officers and slashings to serve eight years in prison, officials said Monday.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said Carl Henegain, 20, punched a jail captain and a correction officer in separate incidents, and stormed into another inmate’s cell and slashed him twice in the face. The attacks happened at two different Rikers jails in 2015 and 2016.

The correction officer he punched was giving him water at the time, officials said. He also allegedly splashed an officer with an unknown substance.

“This defendant was notorious for his crime spree on Rikers Island,” Clark said. “I hope this serves as a deterrent and reinforces our message that crimes committed in the city’s jails will have serious consequences.”
