West Valley Detention Center inmate who walked away from the jail Tuesday night was found Wednesday afternoon near Pedley, Calif., sheriff's officials said. Richard Anthony Osnaya, 22, of Pomona has been at the jail since Dec. 20 on a drug conviction, San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers said. He was set to be released in January. Jail officials assigned Osnaya to a cleaning crew, which was working in the administrative area of the jail Tuesday night. At 11:15 p.m., he walked away from the crew, Beavers said. Minutes later, sheriff's personnel noticed his absence. The sheriff's crime impact team interviewed numerous people and learned Osnaya may be in the 6400 block of Grand Valley Trail near Pedley. Deputies found him walking down the street in the area and took him into custody. Sheriff's officials will seek escape charges against the man, Beavers said. |
