LINCOLN — Four staffers were assaulted Wednesday in the same housing unit at the Tecumseh State Prison where a disturbance broke out two weeks ago. Two of the injured corrections employees were treated at a local hospital and released, said Dawn-Renee Smith, a spokeswoman for the State Department of Correctional Services. Housing Unit 2 has been on modified lockdown since March 2, when about 40 inmates ignored orders to return to their cells and began fighting and starting fires. Two inmates were discovered dead after a special riot-response team retook the area after about 3½ hours. Housing Unit 2 was also the site of a deadly riot in 2015 that left two inmates dead and more than $2 million in damage.
