Inmate found dead at Allen County jail identified as former Kenton resident

LIMA — An inmate who died Monday evening at the Allen County Justice Center has been identified, but the cause of death is still undetermined.

Brady Lee Hoop, 23, of Kenton, was found unresponsive at approximately 5:15 p.m. Corrections officers performed CPR and used a defibrillator while waiting for EMS to respond, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office. Hoop was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 5:44 p.m.

Before his death, Hoop was scheduled to be transferred to the Correctional Reception Center in Orient. He was to serve a two-year prison sentence for theft from the elderly.
