By Pahrump Valley Times
Published: 04/11/2005

Forty inmates at the Nye County Detention Center in Pahrump, Nev., were taken to the jail in Tonopah after a fire broke out early last Tuesday evening.
At 5:15 p.m., Pahrump Valley Fire-Rescue crews responded to a fire in the wall of one of the cells inside the detention center. The fire was accidental in nature, stemming from a welding incident.
Fire crews had to cut an access panel in the structure in order to put out the blaze. There were no injuries, but the building was evacuated and inmates were transferred in a precautionary move.
