Corrections officer attacked at N.J. youth facility, union says |

TRENTON -- A state corrections officer was attacked by an inmate at a New Jersey youth correctional facility this week, according to the officer's union officials. Justin Straub, an officer at the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Crosswicks in Burlington County, was punched and kicked in an assault during a routine check at the prison for young adult offenders, according to PBA Local 105, the corrections officers union. A spokesman for the Department of Corrections, Matthew Schuman, told NJ Advance Media the incident was being investigated but that corrections officials "do not comment on open investigations."
