labama House Speaker Mac McCutcheon said tonight progress has been made on developing a plan to build new state prisons. McCutcheon said he expects a plan to build three new men's prisons and a replacement for Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women to be discussed in a House committee next week. In March, the Senate passed a bill authorizing up to three new men's prisons and renovations to other prisons, including Tutwiler. Read More. |
