| Indiana counties turn to prescription drug Vivitrol to fight opioid addiction |

INDIANAPOLIS – Marion County launched a new program to help fight opioid addiction this week that authorities call a, “game changer.” The Opiate Supervision Project uses a prescription drug called Vivitrol to offer a second chance for some offenders who have violated probation. Vivitrol, a monthly shot that prevents opioid users from getting high, has been used in several counties over the past two years including Madison, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Hamilton and Boone.
