| Investigation underway after inmate death at Hamilton County Jail |

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) says an inmate at the Hamilton County Jail died in custody early Thursday morning. HCSO spokesman Matt Lea says 44-year-old Jeffery Simmons "experienced a medical emergency" and was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
