A dangerous inmate has escaped from one of Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Maricopa County jails. Authorities are searching for 22-year-old Luis Lopez-Erives. Investigators think he likely hid inside a food cart and was wheeled outside the Towers Jail in southwest Phoenix. Inmate clothing was found in a nearby dumpster. A jail commander thinks "he slipped out with them." Lopez-Erives was arrested in August after Phoenix police say he and another man led them on a chase through golf courses, neighborhood streets and around the Biltmore. One man was shot during the incident and a Phoenix police officer was fired upon. Lopez-Erives was awaiting trial on multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault, armed robbery and vehicle theft. |
