A woman from Southaven serving time on drug convictions who escaped from a work detail last week has been recaptured along with two wanted felons, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC). State inmate Melody Diana Maher, age 24 of Southaven, was found in a Vicksburg apartment about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the MDOC. Officers with MDOC's Corrections Investigation Division (CID) and the U.S. Marshals Service found her. Found and arrested with Maher were probationer Steven Heigle, age 34, and parolee Jerry Brady Weed, age 35. Both were already wanted by MDOC on unrelated charges but could face additional charges in connection with Maher's escape. Heigle was released on probation on Feb. 19, 2016. He received a total of seven years to serve for two felony DUI convictions in Sharkey County. Read More. |
