| Hopkins County inmate charged with Lyon County murder |

MADISONVILLE -- A Hopkins County Jail inmate who was arrested by Madisonville police this week for driving under the influence has now been charged with murder. According to a news release issued Wednesday by the Kentucky State Police, Madisonville Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday on 19-year-old Princeton resident Ernest E. Atwood Jr. Atwood was observed to be driving erratically, and eventually admitted to officers he did not have his driver's license in his possession, according to the original arrest citation.
