| Local man, veteran correctional officer to run for sheriff |

The 2018 primary and general elections for Fayette County are still some time away, but one Fayette County resident has made known his intention to run for the county’s top law enforcement position. Connersville resident Jabin “Jay” Collins, a corporal at the Fayette County Jail, has announced his intentions to run as a Republican for the office of Fayette County Sheriff. For the 32-year-old Connersville native, who has spent the past 12 years working in the correction field – 11 years at the Indiana Department of Corrections New Castle Correctional Facility, where he obtained the rank of captain, along with just over a year as a correctional officer with the FCJ – along with the past five years as a reserve police officer with both Cambridge City and Milton, the idea of running for Fayette County Sheriff is just another logical progression in his law enforcement career. He was prompted to enter the race for sheriff, also, due to some ideas he has to better not only the state of the FCJ, but the sheriff’s department as a whole. Read More. |
