| 'Re-entry Week' hosted at Kansas prisons, staffing shortage still a concern |

LANSING, Kan. (KWCH) In recent weeks, there has been a lot of attention on Kansas prisons following a disturbance at the El Dorado Correctional Facility. The conditions led many of you to call and email us about your concerns inside including serious staffing shortages. This week, the Kansas Department of Corrections is focusing on the positive by hosting "Re-Entry Week" and highlighting the work employees do to help inmates successfully return to society. The KDOC invited us to Lansing Correctional Facility on Monday. Numbers there show the prison is the most short-staffed in the state. Earlier this year, the facility transferred about 150 maximum security inmates to El Dorado, another short-staffed prison in Kansas. Read More. |
