BRENT, Ala. — Authorities say an Alabama prison guard is in stable condition after he was stabbed by an inmate during lunch. Alabama Department of Corrections spokesman Bob Horton said 36-year-old Wendell Tyrell Jones used a makeshift weapon to stab the guard from behind Monday in the dining hall at Bibb County Correctional Facility. Local media outlets report authorities said the guard managed to defend himself until backup arrived and he could be taken to a hospital.
