| Waterloo murderer found dead in prison |

A man sentenced to 40 years behind bars for killing a Greenwood business owner was found dead in his cell Thursday, according to officials. Phillip Hollingsworth, 45, was found unresponsive in his cell Thursday at Perry Correctional Institution, said Sommer Sharpe, public information director at the state Department of Corrections. Arrested November 2012, Hollingsworth was found guilty of murder in 2014 in connection with the shooting of Bill Ardis, the 65-year-old owner of Ardis Roofing Co. in Greenwood. Hollingsworth was a roofer, according to his obituary. His memorial services were held Monday. Read More. |
