UNITY — The second woman who escaped from the Sullivan County House of Corrections in Unity last week through a work release program was captured Sunday. Laural Ayotte-Hastings, 27, appeared via video conference in the 5th Circuit Court District Division in Claremont Monday afternoon. Judge John Yazinski told her she is facing the felony charge of escape and said prosecutors are alleging she left for work release Wednesday in Claremont and didn’t return to the county jail. She remained in the jail Monday and is expected to appear in the district court again on Aug. 17. Yazinski said she had other failure-to-appear-in-court charges to answer to as well. Read More. |
