| Death investigation at the East Mississippi Correctional Facility |

The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department will investigate the death of an East Mississippi Correctional Facility inmate, the second death investigation at the facility this year. Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said Jack Harvey, 40, was found unresponsive in his cell Tuesday and was transported to a local emergency department where he died. "It is an ongoing investigation but there were no signs of trauma on his body," Calhoun said. According to the Mississippi Department of Corrections website, Harvey was convicted of 2011 charges for robbery, jail escape and grand larceny in Simpson County. Read More. |
