DOC vows to close Warren County Jail if bond vote isn’t set |

The Iowa Department of Corrections will begin the process of closing the Warren County Jail on Jan. 31 if a bond referendum for money to replace it isn't scheduled by then, according to a pair letters recently obtained by the Indianola Record-Herald. "The entire facility smells of mold and sewer gas," said one letter signed by Iowa State Sheriffs' and Deputies' Association president, Maj. John Godar. That letter references a June 22 association tour of the jail, which is on the third floor of the Warren County Courthouse in the middle of The Square in Indianola. Read More. |
