An inmate has been stabbed to death at the maximum security Riverbend prison in Nashville. Correction Department officials identify him as Keith Latron Drinkard, who was serving a 55-year sentence. Drinkard was convicted of aggravated rape and aggravated burglary in 1993 in Shelby County. Authorities say Drinkard's body was found on the floor of a common work area about 6:30 Thursday. He was stabbed eight times in the chest and torso. Officers found a small shank they believe is the murder weapon. Prisons spokeswoman Amanda Sluss says two potential suspects were put into segregation and are being questioned. The capacity of the unit where Drinkard's body was found is 96 inmates. |
