TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A deaf Florida inmate who has been in prison for 36 years for a murder he, and his lawyers, say he didn’t commit lost his bid for early release on Wednesday.. A split decision will keep the murderer in prison, but not as long as the victim's family would have liked. Felix Garcia was 19 when he was charged with murdering a man in a Tampa hotel. No sign language interpreter was provided at trial. Garcia got life, which back then meant 25 years before being parole eligible. Lawyer Reggie Garcia told the board considering parole that Felix had an iron clad alibi. Read More. |
