State prison officials are investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate facing a death sentence at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison outside Jackson. The Georgia Department of Corrections says inmate Donnie Hulett was found early Sunday morning unresponsive in his cell. “Prison medical staff attempted to revive him and he was pronounced deceased at 6:45 a.m. by the Butts County Coroner,” the Department of Corrections said in a statement on its website. “GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.” Read More. |
