A condemned inmate from Mohave County (Ariz.) has had his first-degree murder conviction overturned. Clarence David Hill of Fort Mohave, 56, has been on death row for nearly 15 years. He was convicted in 1989 of murdering his landlord, Dale Edmundson, who, authorities said, was burned alive. Hill's attorney argues that new DNA evidence unravels the prosecution theory in the case. Mohave County Superior Court Judge Richard Weiss agrees a reasonable jury would not likely convict Hill in light of the new evidence. Attorneys expect the judge's ruling will be appealed. |
