Officers suspended after Struggle With Inmate

Three Louisville , Ky., Metro Corrections officers are charged with assault and official misconduct after an incident with a former inmate.
Sgt. Robert Arnold, Officer Joshua Spenton and Officer Scott Dejarnette were arrested while at work Wednesday for their alleged roles in an altercation with an inmate in January. The alleged struggle with inmate Adrian Garner, 32, took place as they were trying to transport Garner from one area of the corrections facility to another, WLKY NewsChannel 32's Natasha Collins reported.
The officers are charged with fourth-degree assault and official misconduct in the first degree, both misdemeanors.
While attorney Mary Sharp said the officers were just doing their jobs, and that Garner instigated the altercation, Garner's sister said it's more of a case of police brutality, Collins reported.
Kiandra Garner also said she wanted to record proof of her brother's injuries.
Garner filed a complaint about the incident once her brother had been released from Metro Corrections.
But Sharp said the officers are involved in confrontations with inmates regularly, and that they're always started by the inmates.
