Tenn. Dept of Corrections launches 'Operation Blackout' campaign before Halloween

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — As Halloween approaches, the Tennessee Dept. of Corrections launches their annual event, to keep children safe.

It's called, 'Operation Blackout', a yearly statewide sweep to make sure registered sex offenders following the rules leading up to and on Halloween.

Hundreds of TDOC probation and parole officers will work with area law enforcement to search communities across the state, visiting random homes to conduct compliance checks of more than 3,000 registered sex offenders statewide.
