PIERRE, SD– An inmate at the South Dakota State Penitentiary has been charged with one count of attempted first degree murder and one count of aggravated assault after an incident this week involving a Department of Corrections employee. 25-year-old Kevin Christopher Tripp is currently serving a 15 year sentence for a 2012 conviction of having sex with a child under the age of 16 years old. The first degree murder and aggravated assault charges are both punishable by up to 25 years in the state penitentiary, up to a $50-thousand fine or both. Read More. |
