A Kentville provincial court judge has ordered that an 18-year-old inmate at the Waterville youth jail who is serving a sentence for murder will remain at the jail while a new criminal code charge for assaulting another inmate works its way through the courts. The man, who cannot be identified because he is serving a youth sentence, was in court Thursday for a show cause hearing to determine whether he should be held at the youth jail or an adult facility. Judge Ronda van der Hoek made her ruling at almost 6 p.m. following a lengthy hearing that took much of the afternoon.
