A Hardin County Detention Center escapee had possession of car keys for about an hour before climbing a 9-foot fence and stealing an employee’s car Saturday morning, according to a facility video.

William Jeffery Glover, 46, can be seen working in the kitchen area of the jail around 4 a.m. Saturday, helping prepare meals for inmates, according to one of at least three videos with Glover in them. At one point, while preparing a cup of coffee for himself, Glover can be seen walking into an office and moving toward a desk.

Hardin County Jailer Danny Allen said it is believed Glover was looking for sugar. What he also found was a set of keys belonging to a contract service employee, according to a video. At one point, he can be seen looking out a door window toward a parking lot.
