| Inmate causes five-hour jail lockdown |

TUPELO – An inmate started a fire inside the Lee County Jail and held jail staff at bay with mops Tuesday morning. Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson posted a video to the department’s Facebook page Tuesday afternoon showing the incident. According to reports, Rico Lyons, 27, of 126 Stanley Ave., Verona, started a fire around 5:30 a.m. in Housing Unit F at the jail on Commerce Street in downtown Tupelo. The video shows Lyons with his face covered and a mattress as protection as he swings mops and other janitorial items to keep correction officers from entering the unit to extinguish the fire.
