| Inmate dies in Nash County jail |

An inmate at the Nash County Detention Center died Tuesday night of a massive heart attack, the Nash County Sheriff’s Office reported. Detention officers noticed that inmate Anthony Jones, 42, was suffering a medical emergency at about 10:33 p.m. Tuesday in the detention center, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. Detention officers immediately requested assistance from Nash County Emergency Medical Services and began providing lifesaving measures, Chief Deputy Brandon Medina said. These emergency measures continued until the arrival of Nash County Emergency Medical Services personnel. At that time, Jones was transported to Nash UNC Health Care, where he was pronounced dead.
