| Former prom queen turned Polk jail inmate dies at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center |

BARTOW — A 29-year-old inmate who was a former prom queen and graduated from high school with 4.0 grade point average died Tuesday at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. Shamirah Johnson died about 9 p.m. after being transferred from the Central County Jail infirmary in Bartow on Monday. A news release from the Sheriff’s Office shows that on Oct. 30 Johnson had complained of not feeling well, was vomiting and had diarrhea. Read More. |
