| Inmate charged with spitting on guard |

A Moberly Correctional Center Inmate is facing two felony charges for spitting on corrections officers. Randolph County prosecutors on Wednesday charged 22-year-old Joshua Vasquez with two counts of endangering corrections officers by causing them to come into contact with bodily fluids, a class D felony. He remains in custody at MCC. According to court documents, a corrections officer was securing a cell door when Vasquez spit in his face. The saliva landed on the officer’s left cheek and eye. Another officer ordered Vasquez be searched and the inmate allegedly spit on him as well. The incident occurred in May of 2015. Prosecutor Mike Fusselman said a delay in charges for these types of cases is common and stems from the administrative process in the prison system. Read More. |
