| Department of Corrections discontinuing snow removal program |

(KSFY) - A snow removal program put on by the South Dakota Department of Corrections is being discontinued. "Scoop It" allowed minimum-security inmates supervised by a correctional staff member to remove snow for elderly and disabled homeowners who either couldn’t do the work themselves or couldn’t afford to pay someone to do so. “The department takes pride in providing quality community service opportunities. However, the ‘Scoop It’ program has evolved to a point where the DOC is no longer able to responsibly meet the supervision needs for this program,” Corrections Secretary Denny Kaemingk said in a press release Tuesday.
