| Inmate key theft leads to Schenectady jail lockdown, report says |

An inmate stole a set of keys in a sheriff's van, leading to a facility-wide lockdown at the Schenectady County jail earlier this week, the Daily Gazette reports. The theft happened Monday as an inmate was being transported from court. The jail expects the lockdown to be lifted Thursday as officials were still searching for a remaining key on Wednesday, officials told the Gazette. The inmate apparently reached in to a storage area where the keys were while inmates were being led back to the van. He then hid them behind some equipment, the report says. Read More. |
