Greenville man used IDs of inmates to file false tax returns totaling $500K

A Greenville man was found guilty of making false claims of payment after using the identification of dozens of prisoners to file tax returns totaling about $500,000, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Wednesday.

A jury in federal court found Myron Anvil McCall, 59, guilty of violating 27 counts of Title 18, U.S. Attorney Beth Drake said.

McCall will be sentenced at a later date.

McCall worked with more than 80 prison inmates, and used their names and Social Security numbers to prepare the false income tax returns, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
