The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was notified that Simmerman was missing from his work detail at approximately 1:49 p.m., and that his ankle monitor (GPS) was located near Prospect Park in Rockledge where it had been cut off. Deputies and Rockledge Police Officers immediately initiated a search for the subject in that area at which time Deputy Zach King observed the subject near Fiske Boulevard and King’s Post Road in Rockledge. Upon seeing Deputy King, Simmerman fled on foot, running behind houses with Deputy King in pursuit. Simmerman attempted to elude Deputy King by crossing a canal into Levitt Park, however Deputy King continued to chase the escaped prisoner and was quickly joined by Deputies Tygh Freeman and Sean Hannigan.
