| County to launch medication-assisted treatment program in the jail |

MOUNT HOLLY — People who are in the county jail and addicted will be able to access a new form of treatment in January. Medication-assisted treatment, including methadone and suboxone, will help curb an inmate’s desire to use, coupled with counseling and behavioral therapies. This type of treatment can reduce some of the cravings and other symptoms associated with withdrawal, as well as block the desire to use, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The treatment will be funded through a $200,000 grant awarded to the county by the New Jersey Department of Corrections. Read More. |
