Authorities investigating death of work release participant

WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Authorities are investigating, and the State Medical Examiner will try to determine what caused a man to die at a work release facility.

Police and fire responded to the Waterloo Residential Correctional Facility around 8:45 a.m. Thursday.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says someone found 44-year-old Chad Polley dead in his bed. As part of standard procedure, DoC officers contacted the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation which has taken over the investigation. Polley's body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.
