As newspapers across the country downsize and lay off staff, one Bay Area paper, facing its own unique challenges, is thriving. The San Quentin News, San Quentin State Prison’s inmate-run newspaper, celebrated a major milestone last month after releasing its 100th edition. The paper, featuring news, columns, cartoons and book reviews, has a circulation of 30,000 and a readership spanning 43 states and 36 California prisons. Read More. |
