A Salinas Valley state prison inmate is in stable condition at a hospital after being stabbed in the chest and back last week by two or three other inmates, according to prison officials. Prison officials report that less-than-lethal ammunition was used to quell the attack that occurred on the Facility B recreational yard of the prison in Soledad, Calif. The reason for the attack has not yet been determined nor has a description of the attack weapon been released. An investigation into the incident is under way, officials said. |
