| Oklahoma prison becomes second in state to open dog training program |

Tears streamed down Sarah Ganis' face as she held a shivering Maltese in her arms in the visitation room of the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center. Friday the prison became the second in the state to institute an inmate dog training program, where a select number of offenders are allowed to prepare the canines for life as companion animals for elderly. Bassett's will be known as the Guardian Angel Program. The dog Ganis clutched tightly, Lady, was like many in the program, having been rescued from an abusive situation. Read More. |
