Victim in Toms River homicide was a former inmate |

Authorities have identified a man fatally shot in Toms River Monday night as 30-year-old Brick resident Steven Stallworth. Stallworth died from a single gunshot wound and his manner of death is being ruled a homicide, according to the autopsy report. Police responded to the Hampton Garden apartment building on James Street around 9:20 p.m. Stallworth was located by first-responders with a gunshot wound near building D, according to a statement from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
