Minnesota Department of Corrections Revises Inmate Disciplinary Policy |

The Minnesota Department of Corrections confirms it has changed its inmate segregation policy at every correctional facility in the system. Until last week, if an inmate assaulted prison staff, the maximum penalty was 90 days in a segregation unit and loss of privileges. Prior to 2016, the maximum penalty was two years in the prison's segregation unit without privileges. Now an inmate will serve a disciplinary sentence, then have the opportunity to enter a four-step behavioral program and regain privileges while transitioning into the general prison population.
