Blount County Jail inmate charged in sprinkler system vandalism |

A Sweetwater man being held at the Blount County Jail on sex offender registry violations picked up a vandalism charge this week after police said he damaged several sprinkler heads in the jail. James Leonard Spurgeon, 31, was charged Monday with vandalism after allegedly breaking several sprinkler heads in his cell block two days earlier. Blount County Sheriff’s Office deputies were alerted to the damage Saturday night when emergency alarms started going off in the pod area where Spurgeon is housed, according to a police report.
