A former Texas inmate is accused of killing his daughter and her best friend -- whose bodies were found in a park in Zion, Illinois. Prosecutors Tuesday announced murder charges against Jerry Hobbs III. Hobbs was released from a Texas prison on April 12th. The bodies of eight-year-old Laura Hobbs and nine-year-old Krystal Tobias were discovered Monday. Both children had been stabbed multiple times. The suspect, who faces a bond hearing Wednesday, has an extensive criminal history in Texas dating back to 1990. Prosecutors in Wichita County, Texas, say Hobbs was arrested in 2001 after arguing with Laura's mother -- Sheila Hollabaugh. Authorities say Hobbs grabbed a chainsaw and began chasing other residents of the trailer park. Nobody was hurt. Hobbs was convicted of aggravated assault and sentenced to ten years probation, which was revoked in 2003. |
