| Corrections building, 167 acres burned; fire risk ongoing |

This story has been updated with new information from the St. Cloud Fire Department and the Minnesota Department of Corrections. It rained since a fire scorched 167 acres and a Minnesota Department of Corrections storage building near the St. Cloud prison on Sunday, but there's still a risk of grass fires, said Jerry Raymond, a St. Cloud Fire Department battalion chief. The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire that burned field and woods, including the Graystone Nordic Ski trails, where the St. Cloud State team trains, Raymond said. The Department of Natural Resources ranked the fire risk as extreme on Sunday, for much of the state. Stearns County and other parts of Central Minnesota are considered at a high risk of fire on Monday. Read More. |
