In celebrating National Correctional Officers, Nurses and Employees Week, the city of Atlanta will name the 2018 Corrections Officer of the Year during a luncheon on Friday, May 11, according to a press release. The weeklong celebration began May 5. Each year, the first full week in May is recognized as National Correctional Officers, Nurses and Employees Week where people pay tribute to the contributions of correctional officers, nurses and other civilian personnel who work in jails, prisons and community corrections across the country. “Each May we participate in this national observance to honor our profession and recognize excellence among our staff,” said Chief Patrick Labat. “The Atlanta City Detention Center operates 24-hours-a-day, year-round, making it difficult to fellowship outside the facility. Corrections week offers a well-deserved opportunity for staff and their families to be celebrated for their dedication and service to the City of Atlanta.” Read More. |
